Uniden 980ssb
I bought a non working Uniden 980ssb radio and I think the reverse polarity diode is blown because it blows the fuse every time it is powered up. Probably a long shot and no schematic is available for these that I know of. Thanks....

Re: cobra 146 GTL mod ?
All I know is I put a galaxy a kit in a 146 that I had. It yielded 40 low channels and 40 upper channels. The instructions came with it and was fairly simple.. I did not try ssb, but on the am side worked perfectly..

Re: cobra 146 GTL mod ?
If you can find one, a galaxy A kit will work in them. Also a expo 100 "N" kit will work in it. But the problem is finding them.

Fluttering w/squelch Cobra 29 ltd 2007 year
I have a fairly new Cobra 29ltd chrome. When you turn up the squelch just enough for the noise to go away there is a fluttering sound in the receive. You can turn it on up more and it goes away, but a weaker signal will get cut out. I have had other newer 29's that did this as well.

Palomar lizard 250hd
I have a palomar lizard 250hd with the automatic sideband. On am when in use and you unkey there is maybe a 1 second delay before the receive comes back. Is there any one that may know a way to disable this function?

Cobra 138xlr squelch
I recently acquired a Cobra 138xlr and for whatever reason someone removed all the wires from the squelch control. Just wanting to know if anyone knows the precise location to re-solder 3 wires back to the pcb so I can have the squelch function back intact. I have saw the schematic, but I am not an ...

Sorry I meant to say L37, not L8. Anyway it wasn't that either because went out again and I pushed gently on the pc board and it is what I am fairly sure is a cold solder joint. So without knowing which joint it actually was I started reheating. Slow process but so far it is still working. I guess t...

I just messed with it again I started touching components with a small plastic tip tuning stick. I touched L8 and moved it a bit and it started working. Does this sound crazy? I don't know? Guess I will try it for a while and see what happens. I appreciate your time and hope I haven't wasted it. Cra...

Base of driver is 1.22v, base of final is .79v. I am not positive which is IC4, but with component side up with front of radio facing me there are 2 ic's on the right which maybe one of these is ic4. Cobra 148gtl no transmit
I have a 1992 Cobra 148gtl made in Philippines radio. I accidently keyed the radio with the antenna unhooked. Now I do not have any transmit, receive worked fine needless to say. I replaced 2sc2166 and 2sc1969 with 2 out of another radio that I know are good just to see if that is the problem, but s...

I have 3 older ones and 2 newer ones. Of course I like the old ones better, but I really cannot find serious fault with either of the newer ones. I use them on sideband as well as AM and they do fine for me. So I don't know?...... p.s. I did channel mods on both, variable wattage along with the diod...
