I bought a non working Uniden 980ssb radio and I think the reverse polarity diode is blown because it blows the fuse every time it is powered up. Probably a long shot and no schematic is available for these that I know of. Thanks....

All I know is I put a galaxy a kit in a 146 that I had. It yielded 40 low channels and 40 upper channels. The instructions came with it and was fairly simple.. I did not try ssb, but on the am side worked perfectly..

If you can find one, a galaxy A kit will work in them. Also a expo 100 "N" kit will work in it. But the problem is finding them.

Fluttering w/squelch Cobra 29 ltd 2007 year

I have a fairly new Cobra 29ltd chrome. When you turn up the squelch just enough for the noise to go away there is a fluttering sound in the receive. You can turn it on up more and it goes away, but a weaker signal will get cut out. I have had other newer 29's that did this as well. :?

I have a palomar lizard 250hd with the automatic sideband. On am when in use and you unkey there is maybe a 1 second delay before the receive comes back. Is there any one that may know a way to disable this function?

Pin 8 of IC4 shows 8.36 volts in TX mode. Driver voltage on collector in TX mode on am is 3.83 volts and on LSB is 13.2 volts. Final voltage on collector in TX mode is 3.93 volts on am and 13.32 on LSB. Radio was keyed maybe 5 seconds when I noticed my error.

Base of driver is 1.22v, base of final is .79v. I am not positive which is IC4, but with component side up with front of radio facing me there are 2 ic's on the right which maybe one of these is ic4. I have 3 older ones and 2 newer ones. Of course I like the old ones better, but I really cannot find serious fault with either of the newer ones. Yes on the 11.3258 xtal. I think the new ones have the RCI8719 pll. I have done the channel conversion on a couple of them and they channel the same way as my old ones. The Voyage VR9000 I had after turning up the mod and doing the diode swing trick had more than enough bang without messing with the 2030. It would hit about 40 watts on Dosy Meter. I know they are not scientific or anything, but close. Also had super audio.

I have a grant lt that I did the pll conversion on. Radio works perfectly except for the channel display. I touched a trace with the solder pen in the area between the pll and the channel selector ribbon and the display went very dim and then went out. I replaced the led but that is not the problem....
