I have a SS158 EDX that does the same thing,I have found that some of the caps around the tuning cans are very sensitive to temperature change hot or cold very common for these radios and looks like not they are not of very good quality.

Ok found the problem,I forgot that I had 2 fuses in the plus line,1 near the battery and 1 at the back of the amp plus the negative also,the 1 near the amp had very high resistance which acted as a thermistor cutting off the supply,and tnx for the info on the fuse,I did forget that it was even there...

Flash I have had the hi low button stick on me sometimes and the counter looks like its scanning,I would suspect the hi/low switch.

Had the same thing happen to me with a 139xlr and it was caused by a resistor near the final went bad and took out the final also.

I don't see why not ,after all the little VR is just a pot.Try to keep the wiring away from the PLL etc, should work fine,if not its easy to put it back to the way it was.

I run a SS158 EDX with my Texas Star DX250,just turned down the carrier to 4 watts and cut back the ALC and it works great, I run it on all the time when in the car never turn it off.People don't know the difference,they always think its the new radio lol.

Each piece should be 6 feet long, I am assuming that the top whip was trimmed possibly for 10 meters which does not need to be done.Look for an old 6 foot whip with the proper threads and give it a try.

Try one of the new Z-180,s or Everdhart mag mount,I use one with my SS158EDX mobile and the Everdhart has good swr down on 26 mhz.its a bit longer than a Wilson 1000 at 68 inches long but for the price its hard to beat.

Well I have the M202 going again,tnx to those who offered advise,such as Rick in a pm and ramblingman,I over looked a small 3.3 ohm resistor which was connecting the driver output to the final,it looked ok but it was open I replaced it and bingo up and running.

Well I did disable the driver and still getting the same amount of output,with the driver still in place it does get a bit warm after a long key down.Checked the chokes and they are fine, it seems that the signal is not making it as far as the driver so could it be an issue somewhere in the pre driv...

I tried the echo bypass as well but I would also like to disable the talk back, shutting it off does not cancel it completely, can still here the roger beep a bit,I would like to unhook the TB completely,anyone know how?

Does anyone know which 2 cans that need to be adjusted to change the freq. response for USB and LSB.Usb tx audio is fine but the LSB audio is a bit on the thin sounding side.I have looked on CB Tricks but it does not show any info.Anyone know what these adjustments are?
