I do not know how to test them as there is no mention of voltages in the service manual i have for this rig.However i replaced tr13 with a replacement,still no difference.

Hi Rick,yes you are right there are 2x vr's on the pc-547 board 1 is for the channel 9 squelch gate & the other is the main squelch.So which componant would you suspect to be the problem on the main pcb for the open/closing slowness on the main squelch?

Hi Rick, the stalker XX (20) uses the pcb-411 board & is the exact same pcb as the president madison with the MB8719 Pll chip uses.

Hi Dave, it does not buzz if i use an external psu unless i put the mike near the PSU , any idea's to sort it? Also the warble is sorted, had too much v.d.c going to the clarifier.

Hi warhorse :) yep i did the mod & it had the reverse effect as you suggested it might,coz when i swapped the transistor rx sensitivity went down so i have replaced the 2sc1730, was worth a try,cheers for your input on this,Shaun :D

Can anybody pleae tell me which is the IF amp transistor in the President Adams? as i have a bagfull of new 2sc2999's,would like to swap the original & see if there is a dramatic improvement, as this mod worked superbly in my old Lincoln :D ,cheers.

think i will get back to you on this when i have a more accurate frequency counter in my possesion,also i would have to measure the amount of drift over a period of time,as it just does not occur all the time,cheers anyway.

Hi Rick :D , yes i have already put the clarifier back to being a stock one, the drift is there still on ssb,i have exchanged the ssb crystals out of my realistic trc-449 as they are the same but the problem still persists, any idea where else i could try,cheers mate,Shaun :D

This pin 7 is normally tied high. NightRanger, It may be a bit late but D32 in the MK2 Adams PC 346 is part of clarifier being unlocked and that may be reason your having trouble getting on frequency. The full unlock. Gooday Brian :D ,below are the measurements i am gettin on my multimeter
with the switch in the corresponding mode while testing on each tag.

Blue wire/L24/LSB/ 8.10 Vdc

Green wire/L25/AM/ 0.01 Vdc

Yellow wire/L26/USB/ 0.01 Vdc

They are probably just standard silicon diodes, in which case a 1n4148 will be fine as a replacement. Definitely worth cheching that L25 isn't open circuit as well. Brian.
