Re: Frequency counter problem

It copuld be a cap problem. They are a PITA to replace. They are thru plated with sleeves thru the board. So you have to be careful or you will pull the sleeves out and have a open connection. I HATE re-capping the freq counters, but as old as they are now, the counters and P/S need to be done

Re: Galaxy DX-949 1 watt output

Did you check the voltage/bias on the final mosfets? If these are wrong, too much voltage will over drive and destroy and too little will under power the radio

Re: Voltage dropping out when checking 2SB754

Do you have a older vtvm that you could use? I have found that some of the newer meters will give false reading as they load resistance/capacitance when they read. I have and old Health kit VTVM and that is what I use most of them, unless I am out in a mobile checking stuff, the a portable meter is ...

Re: Pres. jackson 2sc2166 self distruction

Yes..My friend, i have already checked the pinout connection for the 2sc1969 and it's correct, also for the thermal diode seems ok. :? Today, in my mind is born a new question : Why have you don't checked the capacitors between driver and final stage !? :?: And, what about the bias current for the ...

Re: Schottky Diodes

A lot of times when you replace the diodes, you will not think there is a difference until you get to where there is no skip. Then you will wonder if the radio is dead as it will go so quiet. Yes, this DOES work, at least on the PC122. I've done it and then thought there was something wrong as it wa...

Re: Pres. jackson 2sc2166 self distruction

I know this sounds super simple, but are you sure that the mounting hardware is not shorting to ground. 50ma is what your bias should be.

Re: Frequency counter problem

I've seen a few 2000's that act this way. If all goes back to the power supply. These are built with a power supply that is capable of running the radio, but when peaked, it is lacking. Then the power supply also lacks and due to low voltage, parts tend to fail. I bought a Madison that the clock was...

This is the Northstar photo. The NR 150 is below. So if I cut the trace, I should get extra channels?

If that doesn't work, is there like an expo kit that will work??

Looking for Cherokee Nighteider 150 mods

I tried the search function but couldn't find anything on the Nightrider 150 as far as channel mods and other mods go. I just won one off of E-Bay and wondered what its capable of doing. It has the MC145106 chip same as the newer 148GTL-DX but without the 2 adder chips.. Any help will be appreciated...

Re: Washington (8719)

Good day people. I recently purchased a RM200P amp. When connected to my Washington I get a DK of about 50 watts. When I start talking the watt meter swings backward peaking at 25 watts. Anyone have an idea as to what causes this to happen? The SWR on the system is exceptionally low with the amp of...

Close to what Min said, I have a Uniden Madison (8719) that is pretty heavy with the mods.

50 watt kicker
blue lights
blue display
26.435 - 28.305

And still plenty of room inside to add more goodies. Make sure you have space before you try craming stuff inside
