Ringo AR10

Has any here ever built a AR10/11 from the ground up without the kit? I have a buddy with what would be an AR11 copy and figured it can't be all that difficult. As luck would have it I have the mast and most of the stuff aside from the gamma match bits from a recent score.Ever tried to pull an anten...

I had a similar problem with a new model 29, Old models are great, pop it in , PROPERLY tune it. 35 watts clean. NO cheap capacitor kit. (Don't use em) I played with the 2007 model for about a week, This is what I was able to get out of it.... I replaced the driver with a 2SC1957, changed the 68pf ...

A few words on the K30 antenna system

In a word Junk. I bought this guy because it was a wham bam install and to say the least I was going to be as lazy as possible about it because I wanted to get on the air, not spend a whole day drilling holes and planning stuff. And it was CHEAP. I know of people who have had them work just fine. I ...

Don't even say drivers it has the 2SC2314 driver installed. And I have 2.7 at the gate. It jumps after key and modulation. Starts about 1. Thinking the 2030 mods is a huge pile.

Ok re checked SWR again = Replaced and re trimed the K30 whip. Now 1:1 on 19 and 1:2 on 1 and 40. Now it swings 5.5-6.5 max at any point. Staring to feel like the 2030 mod is a scam meant to suck this sucker in.

Anyone get one done for real on a newer chassis?

ERF 2030 Mod - Beating a dead horse

I promise I will never beat this horse again. I ordered the EKL kit and installed it in my BRAND NEW Cobra 29LTD Classic (new chassis) I get: 1. 1 watt dead key 2. 5.5 watt forward swing - 7 watt channel 1 3. Performance drops at 40 highest at 1 I installed the kit exactly like the instructions said...

Clarifier modification 1) Lift anode of D-30 and connect a 5.6 uH choke in series. 2) Cut D-32. 3) Cut both traces on the PCB going to the clarifier . 4) Solder one wire to PCB ground. 5) Solder a wire from the other cut trace to an 8 VDC source (note: 8 volts can be found on the cathode of D-50) 6)...

Re: Cobra 29 LTD FM mods.

It is easy to add FM to most radios using a 455 KHz IF. You just need a 455 Mod-demod module which can be obtained from Spectrum Communications www.spectrumcomms.co.uk/cbkits.htm#FM455 If you have any trouble, obtaining one from Spectrum, let me know as I think I still have one in stock. Thanks for...

Ok - I found the PLL chip in the Cobra 25's and 29's is a turd that you can't do much with aside from excite the receive. Still working on the FM part.

Cobra 29 LTD FM mods?? Stumper of the century?

1. Any ideas on how to get the radio into an FM mode that might be switchable? I know that you can pull the line from the mic and it goes somewhere around the crystal circuit to make it go FM.

2. Anyone know the secret of the PLL chip and the extra channels?
