Boy do I feel dumb. The problem wasn't the PLL. I never took it out of the well packed envelope you sent. Here it was an open L24 coil. I was going by semiconductor voltages and the PLL chip was reading strange. well live and learn. To top things off, a guy 10 mile up the road had a whole 29 circuit...

While poking around on eBay, I found a used one. I hope it's good. He said the cobra 146GTL it came out of was still receiving. I'll keep in touch.

go to www.partsexpress.com. They have a small audio amp kit you can build and hook to 12v dc that will make your external horn louder. You may have to attenuate the input audio signal to keep from over driving the amp. Phyzz

I'm looking for a PLL IC for a Cobra 29 LTD. The schematic says it's a UP2816P, the chip number is a D2816c Nippon, and a sight on the internet says uPD2816. That number (uPD2816) is grouped with a uPD2814, HD42853, ans a KM5624. I don't know if there interchangeable or not. Any leads? Phyzz
