A request to Uniden

Over the last few years, buying a scanner from Uniden in New Zealand or Australia has become a rather expensive undertaking. The last models that were offered down here were the 996T/396T. If you want a Uniden scanner these days in this part of the world, you either have to import one from the US (w...

Feeler Thread: An NZ CB Club?

Hi Folks, I'm looking at getting something in the way of an NZ wide CB club together, after having spoken to CBRANZ and found that they are pretty much shut down due to lack of interest from it's membership, that is not to say that there aren't functioning CB clubs like those from the North Shore an...

PM problem

Gidday Scott,
I just tried to send you a PM on a site related matter, but when I try to enter your name into the "To" field, a
red message appears above saying "The requested users to be added do not exist.
The submitted form was invalid. Try submitting again."

Your thoughts? :x

Re: Christchurch NZ stuff wanted

Hi there, Good to see someone else in the South Island getting back into CB! 8) To be honest, you could make a fortune on TradeMe with them SWR meters, everyone seems to be selling radios but no-one seems to be selling SWR meters for some strange reason. I have a Ground-Independent GME 26MHz aerial ...

Re: 26 Mhz dipole antennas

Hi there, Do you mean like a horizontal sort of dipole aerial? Regarding retailers in NZ that sell CB radios and aerials, it's a very short list these days. The last CB aerial I bought, I imported from MobileOne in Aussie and it was not cheap at all. :x About the only companies I'm aware of that sti...

Gidday there Kimbo, Hope things didn't get too shaken up, up your way with the big quake. :o Unfortunately, it may be that there is very little happening on the CB bands down this way at the moment. I still haven't got my set on the air yet, due to work committments and the fact that I'm still build...

SWR Meter

Does anyone know where I can by a proper 26MHz CB SWR meter in New Zealand?
Apart fron Trademe that is.
I've been using my HF ham SWR meter up until now, but it's a real nuisance having to un-hook it all the time from my HF rig. :x

Can anyone help?

Low Pass Filter circuit?

Hi guys, I'm looking to build a LP filter, to prevent my CB signal from splattering the neighbours, when I fire my set up this weekend. Now, I realise these filters are essentially Pi-filters, but I've been all over the Internet and can't find a circuit diagram or any sort of formulae for calculatin...

Re: Finally got one!!

Hi there hotshot, Well, I haven't had the radio on the air thus far, although I have tested the output through a dummy load and the final amp checks out OK. The biggest problem as of late has been a lack of time (due to long hours at work) and also the lack of a DECENT aerial on the market these day...

Woah,
That's good news, it'd be the first time a new CB club has been formed in NZ in years.

On the same side of the coin, I note that CBRANZ has gone into recess. :(

Hey all, Been ages since I've been around these parts. Hope you fellas are all still well, I take it? Anyhow, I found what I've been looking for on TradeMe here, ever since I gave my old CB set up in 1998. :( I found a Uniden Pro-640e!!!!, it is a tad rough (it's currently in pieces, getting cleaned...

Sounds like the power supply in a desktop computer, to me.
Ferrites may help reduce the interference, but I wouldn't put money on it eliminating it.

As a rule:
Ch 11 is the truck drivers channel.
Ch 15 is the Emergency Calling Channel.
Ch 19 is the AM Calling Channel in some areas.
Ch 25 is the lower limit of the SSB part of the band.
Ch 35 is the SSB Calling Channel (USB).

Marine Radio Licences?

Can anyone tell me what sort of qualifications are needed to operate a VHF Marine Radio set these days, in New Zealand?.
I see one well-known retailer, selling these sets, advertising "No Licence Required".
Hmm. :x
Sounds dodgy to me.

Hi there guys, Just be sure that the set is made to have a 50 ohm antenna connected to it, some FM transmitters I've seen have a 75 ohm output impedance. One way of being reasonably sure, is by the type of antenna connector on it. If it has an SO-239 (threaded) connector on it, it's more than likely...
