rick is right. It sounds like a bad 10.240 xtal. I experienced this recently with a connex 3300 and a galaxy 44

after close examination and troubleshooting, I replaced the crystals on pcb and bam! sucker is up and running again :)

its getting worse the more i use. allmost will not transmit at all. static was in rx also but it doesnt seem to be anymore. which ic or transistor actuates the tx? thx peeps

Thanks for the input scott. this is a 1989 model. well rick, i will get the voltage readings from audio chip first thing tomorrow. I could just as well toss this pos but its personal now. cant let it win! thx peeps

sorry about my vague descriptions. it was not intentional. "I cant hear pa thru ext. spkr" means: when I plug in an ext. speaker into pa jack and switch radio to pa, I dont hear my voice coming out of the ext. spkr. keep in mind, the radios tx and modulation work great. ref. your second re...

ok, the base voltage of tr6 is zero when closed and 1.16volts when open. tr10 base voltage varies from 0-8.8volts. d4 thru d7 all ok. I noticed that i cant hear the pa thru an external speaker. also, I can hear incoming audio barely with earphone. your time is greatly appreciated rick. russ

well, my 2950 used to do the same thing. the first time it happened, i found that the ext. spkr switch that turns off the internal spkr was'nt making contact because of residue buildup. second time, was a simple case of the pcb screws being rattled loose. hope this helps

I was wondering what might be the problem with this one. At full throttle it will dead key 1/2 watt and swing allmost a watt. I just aquirred this radio so I dont have any history info to add.
