Sounds like there is still a problem with the amp. Make sure that you dont have a cap going bad in the input. You said that you had a blown diode that concerns me a little. What caused the diode to blow if you know. Also check the drive tubes you might have a bad tube giving you problems.

Yes leave the limiter in it is a 2sc945. this will only damage your mosfets. they have more than enough gain. one mod you can do is change r178 to a 1k resistor and set your deadkey to 10 watts but no more. set VR13 for 10 watts high power and set Vr14 about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way. Dont tun up more t...

the dx 98 vhp has the same board. if you look at the schematic for the dx-98vhp the main board is dual mosfet and should get you well on you way. Make sure the 3rd leg of the bias pot is soldered to ground on the driver circuit. If you dont do that you wont be able to set your bias on the driver to ...

On that radio you should be able to run high power with no problems with that linear. I think the deadkey is around 6 watts or so. Unless it is a 3300hp then you can set it to 10 watts deadkey but you have to replace R178 with a 1K resistor and set VR13 for no more than 10 watts or you can damage yo...

I have done a couple of the dual mosfet upgrades for the older radios that were using the bipolars here in the shop. I would say if it has mosfets in it now that you shold be half way there. You will need a few parts to get things going but it is not hard. YOu will need to get an IRF520N mosfet for ...

I could be wrong but if an amp is swinging to 600 watts and only deadkeying 15-20 watts that is a heck of alot of modulation. Personally i would like to see a higher deadkey. I could see 150 watts for your deadkey and swing to 600 but 15 watts and swinging to 600 that sound a bit silly. I dont know ...

Most of the time when you see the meter swing backwards its caused by overmodulated output by wich i mean you start to clip the output. with out the amp on what is your dk and what is the swing. Also what does the maco need for forward swing. it is possible that you have to much modulation. If it is...

So i checked my voltage and one voltage on the transistor was supp...

OK I got my audio back now it was actually a bad ground for the switch that controls the speaker ground on your am fm or pa switch. whew now that that issue is resolved we can move onto the next issue. I dont have any rx. I injected a mudulated signal into the radio and went up to .83mv and still no...

OK THANKS RICK I MISSED THAT DIODE. It is hiding down in there pretty good. I still have no audio and that one has me puzzled because...

GALAXY DX-44 NO RX, AND NO PA AUDIO???? HELP!!

I have a galaxy dx-44 on the bench here. When i got it it had to tx or rx and i found that tr43 and tr44 were both shorted. I replaced them and tr36 wich was shorted out. I have tx back now and working perfectly. Now on the rx side i found that someone put a 1n4148 in place of a 7.5volt zener at d78...

most manufacturers dont stamp the whole number on the parts. I just make sure they are from international rectifier. I get mine at www.digikey.com here is the link for the right parts. http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail?name=IRF520NPBF-ND these will save you from pulling you...
