Uniden 2830

Can anyone help with a Uniden 2830 It's off frequency by 0.0003KHz on SSB according to receiving stations and I need the RIT (Clarifier) button at the 3 o' clock position to hear people clearly on SSB. Also, the modulation on SSB is a little weak? I've probably posted in the wrong section so have ho...

Supertar 3900 - locked on mid-band

Hi, Could anyone walk me through a problem with a Superstar 3900 which is locked on mid-band. Presumming there are no broken wires to the band selector knob what else can I check when I get the covers off? Bearing in mind I'm a novice with this, please reply in terms a thick northerner like me would...

The CB frequency for most of the world is between 26-30Mhz or the eleven meter band (depending on where you are) so it'll be fine without any modification.

Watch your input power & SWR & you'll be cookin' on gas!

There have been numerous negative reports about the performance of the Cobra 200GTL-DX on SSB, in particular the frog-like croaky audio and insufficient clarfier shift (meaning you can't get the zero's) & are all well documented on most online forums. Here in the UK, some of the 'bugs' have been...

Looking at the datasheet for the Toshiba 2SC2290 the max input is 4w PEP which gives approx. 60w out. Double that for two.

I'd suggest you'd need at least a 30amp supply to keep it happy & not run your power supply into the ground.

I know there was a BV131 which had one EL509/EL519 tube & a BV135 which had two tubes - the latter being good for approx. 200w am/fm. Sorry, can't help with the BV130P - try mailing Zetagi but be patient, they're slower than the relay's fitted to their amps! If you're replacing the tubes ...

OK - here's an update. I got the lid off & it's a Ranger EPT690010D board as sonoma suggested. Problem is I can't be sure that I've located VR7 correctly - it's right at the front of the board just behind the front panel next to some sort of jumper pins & I can't see the lettering on the boa...

Thanks for the replies everyone :D :D :D Rick - It's off frequency on the high band (27.415 - 27.855 MHz) & FM TX only? I'll borrow a frequency counter & try the VR7 TX offset???:? As far as the PLL re-alignment - that's way out of my depth but I'll let you know how I get on with VR7 at the ...

Zetagi B2002 transistors - Motorola ???

Hi All, Anyone know what PA transistors are used in the Zetagi B2002??? There's a Motorola ref (SRFE1164) but I think it's specific to Zetagi & I can't cross-reference them to an alternative??? Also, if I do find a equivalent, will I need them to be matched in pairs (there's four inside) ...

Has anyone got any alignment/tuning info on the Superstar 158EDX ??? I believe it has the same board as one of the Ranger radio's but not sure which one? :? You don't need a tune-up, just a bigger power supply if you intend to use it home-based. These things draw over 40A on setting #6 (600W PEP) If you're running mobile then make sure you hook that bad-boy directly to the battery (not to your cigarette lighter socket - believe me, some folks do try!!!)...

You will struggle to keep the SWR down across five or six banks of forty channels - the antenna will only be resonant on a particular frequency(say 27.555 for example) dependant on its length & the SWR will get higher the further you move away from this resonant frequency (called antenna bandwid...

Sirio currently produce a copy of the Antenna Specialists (Avanti) Sigma IV called the Vector 4000.

It's also a 3/4 wave monster but I suspect it's not quite as well built as the original (I had a Sigma IV way back in 1981 & it did perform incredibly well  )

Red - RX
