Animal, Put the counters probe to TP3 R84 and adjust L21 for 16.490 on channel 19 Mid band in AM or FM in RX mode. Let us know if it does adjust to the correct frequency. Thanks Rick - it was just a thought (the idea was to reduce the heat generated by under-driving the 2879 but getting a similar output to the 2290's)

The 200 doesn't have a fan & relies on the heatsink alone.

Yes, I did modify it & whilst there was an improvement it wasn't dramatic & was more noticeable when trying to copy a very weak station. If it means the diffence between making that elusive contact and missing it then I'd say it's worth it given the relatively small cost & time involved....
