Cobra 148 GTL-DX Frequency Problem
Just an update Dave, I got hold of some adders advertised as 'new old stock' I know, I know........................ I should know better  Anyway, when they arrived, the pins were so rusty they just snapped off when I handled them  The remainder, which initially stayed intact, then blew aw...

Irf520 mosfet question
Factory recommendations are there for a reason. If you exceed these parameters then don't expect your finals to last as long as they would in normal service. You're also likely increase the risk of IMD, degrade the signal to noise ratio, etc, etc I haven't looked up the factory recommendations but y...

I've got 3 DM452 mikes and they are all very good even with different names on them. I've never had a bad report on one yet. Dave. As Dave said. I never had a bad report on mine either - but the physio-therapist bills were criminal!!! :-s They're not the most ergonomic-shaped microphone & it he...

Re: Opinions on the Astatic minuteman 2 please
As the title indicates, what's the audio quality like on the "minuteman 2". It will be paired with a Superstar 3900el. Thanks in advance. I believe it's got the same ceramic element as the D104M6B & the 575-M6, therefore it will be nice & loud but unsuitable for mobile use as it w...

Made me laugh that Jo Gunn site - 'increased audio' WTF???
I'm sure they're well made but some of the performance figures (especially 'audio gain' ) need to be taken with a pinch of salt.

Animal, Put the counters probe to TP3 R84 and adjust L21 for 16.490 on channel 19 Mid band in AM or FM in RX mode. Let us know if it does adjust to the correct frequency. You haven't said if it's off on all modes or just AM/FM. Dave. Sorry Dave, my last post should have read TP3 R84 (not TP4) Anywa...

Cobra 200 Rev 2 Clarifier Range
Guys A friend of mine has a Revision 2 Cobra 200 GTL DX (PCB# PFM-0090A-BE) It's well documented that the coarse clarifier shift isn't sufficient on the Rev 2 to reach the zero's (obviously it needs 5Khz at the very least but only manages approx 3Khz) I'm led to believe there are a number of ways to...

Try this, then click on 'Projects to build':
http://home.planet.nl/~poelm348/index.html
The Skypper is a folded wire yagi and works very well.
Best wire is 'flexweave' multistrand but it's expensive.
Good Luck

Any advice appreciated guys. Can a 2SC2290 transistor be replaced with a 2SC2879??? I looked at the data sheets for both & the voltages are all identical between Collector/Emitter/Base. The only difference I can see is the collector current is higher (5A more) on the 2879 (the 2290 is 20A) &...

As probably stated in the post above (but I couldn't be arsed reading it!) mobile interference is either picked-up via your antenna (radiated) or via your power leads (conducted) - so before you start looking for remedies you need to establish which of the two it is. Plug a dummy load into the ant s...
