Yes I've done the job and if you feel confident enough to do it go ahead, it's the only none SMC on the board but it's in a very tight position to get at and it's soldered both sides of the board. The later radios have a small heat sink on the transistor to try to keep it cool. It is not an easy job...

Ron, If the front board is the PTSY016AOX then this will unlock the clarifier to a KC shift. Remove D5 and R26. Connect the unused clarifier pin on the control to a 10k resistor and connect the other end of the resistor to the emitter of Q44 the regulator. D7 is the varactor diode by adding a 5.6uH ...

Ron, Most people want the radio to display 1 to 40 on all the bands you're the first one to want to put it back to 41 to 80 on high band. You should find the wires comming from the band switch, they will have been removed from the channel switch and one of the solder lands they came from will have b...

Ron, You have got the radio on FM haven't you with the switch pulled out for FM and in for AM. If your not in the correct mode it will sound off frequency. They are easy to adjust on that rig, each crystal has it's own adjustable capacitor next to each crystal on the sub board front left hand side o...

Cymro, Welcome to the forum. It would help if you told us what radio it is. Moving a radio that far from what it was original designed to work on is asking a hell of a lot for a CB. If the radio has a clarifier or a kC shift then you would be able to adjust the frequency between the 10KC's of each c...

Scott, I think you'll find the answer is to turn the FM deviation down a bit and use a power mike. It may just solve the problem on AM as well. As you know we don't use AM in the UK so i've never had that problem. But i must say that type of radio the 125 and the 001 boards sound much better on all ...
