Inoperable, now there's a word I wouldn't have used. I can't say that I have, unless the processor been knackered. Scott is the expert on Lincoln’s but it doesn't help not being able to find a good schematic that isn't full of blobs and unreadable, plus there's not a lot of screen printing on the bo...

The transistor bolted to the right hand side of the radio is the voltage regulator for the output stage and gets very hot in AM/FM mode with a constant carrier. That's going down the wrong road, what throw me was that you mention VR13 and put me on the wrong track to start with. Have you replaced th...

Re: super star ss-36
With no control of VR13, I would say the regulator bolted to the side of the radio has gone south.
It's centre pin should go up and down in voltage as you turn VR13 to a maximum of about 8v, otherwise you'll burn it out when used on AM and FM at full power and the final as well.

John, You need to fit a small heatsink to the audio chip after moving it away from the chassis as it is when standard. You will also have to re-fit the large electrolytic capacitor by extending it's pins so it can be bent out of the way of the new heatsink. This work should have been done by the sel...

Norm, I would put a note in to explain that the secondary winding voltage is 15V AC before connection to the rectifier and capacitors with 25V DC after connection to both. Check the AVR transistor Q34, it's a darlington transistor 2SD837 or replace it with a new one to be on the safe side, also check the zener diode at it's base pin at the other side of L17.
I don't know the radio but that's what I'd start with as it's the voltage regulator.

A bit late but I've answered this very same question on another forum. You need to wire a resistor about 10K to pin 6 of the PLL and put the other end to 0v (GND) through a switch. The PLL now counts in 5 instead of 10, hence the 40 channels in 5KC steps and not 10KC's but god knows how low it goes ...

He also has the audio chips TDA1905 at £1.25, and that includes vat.

For what it costs I'd change both IC's, remove the copper heat sink from the audio IC first.
