okay i have a few questions

the caps...some run front to back, others side to side...

are the cap's negative side towards the final??

also volume pot, does this mean the main radio volume??

Check the PD coming out of the PLL, the voltage should go up has you go up through the channels. Check the VCO. Check the Fin. i know that vr8 is the am power, and it is a 10K pot....can i just remove this pot and route it to a 10k pot on the front of the radio.

i would settle for the low and high power adjustments...i can remove the low power pot and wire it into a separate external pot..

the only adjustments that i find, are for the grant with the band switch, mine doesn't have that.

are you wanting to still install the swing kit??

if you are just gonna install the jumper back in..solder it in the same area of the foil(wheres its lifted) then to the other hole...you can do this on the foil side of the board

I think it is better to mount an small CPU fan at the back of the heatsink :roll: . Then the "Magnum" sounds even better :D In normal CB use i regular the power output down to 10 watts. Then it is ok with the temperature. 73's, Ralf ralf is right..lower the power and let the radio swing f...

I just got one these radios, the talkback switch on radio's stock 4 pin mic does not disable talkback. The tb is active all the time. Is there a simple fix to disable tb, I never liked or use tb. I would rather use an Astatic power nc mic as well, and tb always feedbacks/squeals with any power mic....

im not sure how many knobs there are on the mavs...but....what i do is adjust the "load" until i get max rms on the bird meter then...i "tune" for max rms...i usually try to tune between the 2 channels that i use the most.. the load will not change as long as you use the same ant...

i had the same problem...ended up being the lil plug that the speaker wires plug into...had to remove it, and i just soldered the wires to the the remaining pins
