I did the 2030 mod to a friends radio it worked fine when I gave it to him. It doesn't now. I opened it up and it had cooked D-8 I replaced TR 16 , 15, 14 IC3 and D-8 I didn't have a new companion part for the 2030 so that wasn't replaced.Anyhow as soon as I keyed the mic it cooked D-8 again. I help...

I have installed 5 of these all have been put in Cobra 29s.Along with the Stinger Board I put an Astatic echo Board in.You talk on these radios and people think its a Connex.Ive been asked several times is that a Connex.In all of them I did the 2030 mod first. I picked up 8.77v off one of the pins to J20.

Iv'e had the same result with the newer Cobra 29s. However if i add the additional parts listed for the old 1969s i get great result useing the 2030.The older 29s dont seem to be a problem just drop it in.

I have a friend who installed an echo board in his 25. The only place for the controlls was in the place of the RF gain. The wires were removed from the RF pot and connected. It seems the receive acts funny now. Should this have effected the receive?

Has anyone tried this and if so what were the results ?

I was reading up on some of the mods for the Galaxy 959. Anyone know where I can get ECG583 Diodes Schollky Barrier type.

I have a Texas Ranger 696 i want to put a BB-2 Echo Board in. The instructions say that it works best at 9 volts anybody know where i can get that in the radio without messing up something ? They say the Ranger board is the same as the Galaxy 959.

Can anyone tell me if these can be converted to High Drive amps ? I was told the elite series of Polomar was but i dont think it is.

Sorry I should have explained myself better. The ground that I removed was one that I had connected to the case of the radio not the power ground. I also have a ground attached to the case of my amp. But unlike the radio I get a hum if I remove it.

With all due respect my power connection and my ground both go to the battery.

OK this may help others so Ill post my fix for my radio. I was able to get it to talk without the hum by takeing the ground off the radio ? And turning the audio down inside the radio. If you have one of the older Cobra 29s you'll have better result. But if your radio is newer you may have to change the driver to a 1957 or equal. Turn your audio up V4 and see what you have. Also if you still don't get the result your looking for you may try adding the additional parts listed for t...

Thanks for the reply kc I don't know what else I can do to shield the RF i have wrapped the board with copper tape grounded everything possible and the wireing is already shielded. Im out of town but when i get home ill try changing back to stock. i still think to much audio. I guess im hard headed.
