O.K. First flip down into ssb mode..Does the s-meter peg with no
incoming signal..If so check C-21,C-22.
If this is not the case lets then find out if our audio section is working.
With a metal probe in hand touch pin 4 of the audio chip
The audio chip is a TA7222ap i.c. it has 10 legs inline and mounted
to the right chassis rail of the radio, components side up,knobs
facing you.It should be labeled ic-8..You should hear a roar from
speaker if the audio section is o.k...If so your problem is in the i.f.
section,or one of the 10 volt electy caps is bad on the rx rail..
Remember receive always follows the same pattern..From the rear
of the pcb, down the center then to the left...If in the case you dont
get a roar sound from speaker when touching pin 4 of ic-8..then your
audio section is faulty..check c-213 this is the decoupling cap from
the audio chip to the audio transformer...But i would guess if you
are not getting any incoming signals showing on the s-meter.
Your problem is one of the caps on the 8 volt rx rail bad.
Another thing to check if you have a free standing frequency counter
is to check tp-6 or (R-102) For your 10.695 mhz signal in RX mode,
if not present then check TR-30 in RX mode for proper voltage..If
you dont have voltage at TR-30 in RX mode. Then check D-84 .
Also check the 455 mhz filter FL-1.
Also i am assuming that it does have TX audio is this correct.
Or is RX and TX audio missing. Also you will need to make some
measurements and relay info. to us..Start by giving voltage readings
at ic-8.
