Only 1 watt output

Post by bigcharl »

Radio Make and Model: Superstar 3900EL
PCB Number:
PLL Number:
Test gear available: normal tester
Symptoms: No FR power only 1 watt instead of 10 Watts

What is working: everything else

What has been tried: not had covers off yet

Did it suddenly happen ?: not used it in a couple of months but it was ok before
Anything else that may be of help?: I've been told that if you don't unplug the antenna when there is thunder something breaks even when not in use could this be the problem, also not sure in the receiver is ok or its just quiet at the moment

Don't know if it's the same radio or not but I've just had a radio in for repair from Cheshire baught cheap because it only had 1w of output and came with the same story about the thunder.
The final MOSFET had gone caput, a quick fix. :(
How far is it.
Twice it's length from halfway.
