Uniden HR2510 Intermittent Transmit

Post by ted707 »

Radio Make and Model: Uniden President HR2510
PCB Number:
PLL Number:
Test gear available: VOM
Symptoms: The radio Transmit is hit and miss. There doesn't seem to be any correlation between how long it's been turned on, how warm it is from XMIT, or anything obvious. It just is hit and miss on transmit. One moment can key it up, the next time it doesn't. It doesn't matter if using the Transmit button or the PTT. Sometimes, I will just push the Transmit ON and wait til it keys up. Then it will work for the next few keys. Also, for example, if it is in FM mode, and it will not key up but you press PTT or Transmit button, you can still hear white noise, while on AM or SSB, it silences, but you can hear a tiny bit of "talkback" if you talk into the mic. Again, though, when it does transmit, it is fine business, good audio good receive, all good except for the intermittency. Sometimes it will be merrily transmitting along on SSB then just stop.

What is working: everything fine but the intermittent transmit problem.

What has been tried:

Did it suddenly happen ?: It was like that when I got it several years ago.
Anything else that may be of help?:
