Hey, sorry no one answered you question, I get that a lot too. But I do have some info for future referance to those who want to do this mod to other radios. I don't know if you radio fall into it or not but, if not you have just added to my list and made it easier if I should have to do the mod in the future thanks for sharing.

The 2sc2999 and Schottky diodes 1n6263 are the part numbers.

Here's some info on the modifictions to various radio's.

ept-3600 board
such as Galaxy DX radios 33-99 Connex, Pluto's ext.....
Remove and replace TR17, D1, D2, D23,D24

ept0696, ept6900, ept0929 boards
sucha as Galaxy DX radios 919-2547 DX45MP-95T2 Ranger TR696, TR6300 and TR6900, Cobra 148F GTL DX+
Connex 4400,4800 ect......
Remove and replace Q17, D1,D2,D30,D31

ept-2950 boards
such as RCI2950 RCI2979, RCI12990, Galaxy Saturn Turbo, Galaxy 2527,ect.....
Remove and replace Q18,D1,D2,D34,D35

For Cobra 29, GTL,LTD,WX,ST ect.....
Remove and Replace TR7,D5,D6,D24

For Cobra 140 & 142 GTL's
Remove and Replace TR9,D1,D2,D21,D22

For Old style 148GTL you must move TR14 and put it in place of TR19 for SSB to receive.
Remove and replace TR14,D1,D2,D21,D22

Cobra 29xlr
Remove and Replace TR1,D1,D2,D20,D21

Cobra 25 LTD GTL's
Remove and Replace TR1,D4,D6

Unidens 66 same as Cobra 25 substitut Q for TR in some cases.
Usnidens 76 and 78 same as Cobra 29 but substitut Q for TR in some cases.

I'm not an expert, I have a learning diabliatiy that makes it hard to comperhend unless I get my hands on it, or explained in comman man langue in detail. I think the only stupid Question it the Questions not asked... Some people who have been doing something for years or been to school refuse to help someone on grounds of pride and the I'm to smart to answer you dumb idiots attitude. And thats why I struggle to learn, those smart enough to answer are two smart to answer me. Any answer is better than no answer, in my hand book of the unknown. Hope this helps somone or at least maid those mad who are mad.

Here is my findings on Replacing the standard 2sc1674 with 2sc2999 in my President Lincoln:

When I originally put in the 2999 transistor it made a fantastic difference, the signal meter that usually sat about S5 now sat at S0 and weak signals could be heard... however, the signal meter was screwed up and the perfectly audible signals would not break the squelch.

I got fed up with the signals not breaking the Squelch and the S-meter reading wrong so i decided to replace the 2sc2999 and put back a new 2sc1674. With the new 1674 transistor, the signal meter still sat at S0, the meter read correctly again and the weaker signals were able to get through the squelch. (obviously the original 2sc1674 was worn out).

After this I tried replacing the 1674 with a 2sc3356. The 3356 was better than the 2999 in that it didn't screw up the signal meter, but i could hardly notice any difference over the new 1674 in real world performance.

I have since put the new 2sc1674 back in my radio and it is working well. My advice is to try a new original transistor before you mod your radio.
