COBRA 148 GTL ADDING FREQ. COUNTER

I have a dyi freq, counter and would like to connect it so that it reads tx and rec freq. How do I connect? :D

DYI ? Havnt heard of that one, Is it anything like the SS3900 type counter ?

The diy freq meter is a counter kit from electronics-diy.com measures freq fron 10 to 60 MHz.
it can measure weak signals from crystal oscillators. sorry about the DYI. AT 84 my fingers are a little tired

Ah right, I did actually think DYI was a model, I wasn't playing grammar police. :D

I cant help you on this one as i only know how to connect up a 3900 type counter [CRT superstar kf v1] for the 148, Theres plenty of instuctions around for this maybe it could give some clues, You never know.

lets try another approach-----can anyone tell me where to connect a freq meter to read both tx and rec on any cb unit,
probable not!

The only way to read the TX and RX freq on a radio is to hook into the offset oscillator, however, this will not give you the on channel frequency, as it would need to be mixed with another frequency (to match the radios IF), for instance if you hooked into the 148, you would be seeing a 34MHz frequency, if you then had a mixer circuit installed too then that could deduct the 7.8MHz IF from that to give the correct on channel frequency.
