I have a new china made 148 gtl that i opened up the clarifier using the info on this site,it now slides about 9kz down and 5 kz up.The problem is even after doing an alignment using the info on cbtricks the transmit freq. does not match the receive freq.I have a galaxy fc347 wired to the radio and it shows my receive on channel 40 as 27.4050,but when i transmit it shows the freqency as 27.9930
The clarifier seems to work great, both transmit and receive freqencies track when it is turned but for some reason they are not both centered on freq.
Help!!!
Robert

Maybe i should put the clarifier back to stock and then do an alignment.

hi there ,the best cobra radio to do the mod on is the phillipines model or a model dfrom the 80s to early 90s. these cobra radios are junk ive done the original cobra 148gtl and it slides 30khz down and 10khz up it works perfectly the reason why the earlier models were the best because they were made decently even the early 80s etc .148gtl was the best the same as the cobra 2000gtl theyll slide 30 down and 10 up reason being this particular radio had a real large loop crystal about 3 times as the size as the normal loop crystals in the chinese made cobra 148gtl they look ok, but the time people spend on modding cbs you should just purchase a radio standard with the features known as a export version like a superstar3900 g, or galaxy 2100 etc. theres alot on the usa market stay away from 148gtls made in china etc ,thank hamguy2 nsw australia ,ps dont buy any chinese products . :)
