Tuning and boosting up an AX144

Post by Unclebuck »

hi everyone, I am new to this forum, I have a uniden ax144 and am looking to tune it up as it has gone off freqency. I am also looking to build a speech processor into the case and do a general power output increase. i heard you can get up to 30W output. If any one has detailed instructions including diagrams on ho to do it and what to do I would apreciate it. Or oherwise I would be happy to pay someone who knows what they are doing to beef it up for me.
thanks, all help apreciated !

I am not cmpletely ignorant, I do have knowledge about caacitors, resisors and can solder so I can do most of the work my self if I know which pots to turn. but anyway I leave it open and hopefully someone will lend a hand. I have a suspect cap problem and dry joints as it only happens when the radio is physically cold. Once it warms up it comes good.
anyway, speak soon

the finals in it will only take 20 watts pep and thats pushing it they get hot in the rear. to do 30 watts you have to change a few things finals to start etc ,by memory they have 1969s and 2166s ,1306s and 1307s are better but the best place to order transisters from etc is www.rfparts.com or any usa or uk cb shop, thx dasve nsw
