The one on my Cobra 148 has been working great for 15 years. You may need to update your information sources
What is the best mike for getting out
The choice of microphone has nothing to do with range. Much more important is correct installation, especially the antenna.
Did you get the radio professionally installed by a knowledgeable person/company?
getting out with limited echo
Echo things, noise toys, beepers, etc just shout out "NOOB!!!!"
Avoid these things if you want an intelligent reply.
This forum sucks!
With this and most other forums, it helps if you post relevant questions.
I had a look (using Google) for Mobil information. Nothing on microphones, but found out lots of things about gasoline, automotive lubricants, and oil drilling platforms.
