cobra 29ltd classic no receive

Post by perrym1962 »

I have a Cobra 29LTD classic front mic mfg date 12/04. Transmits perfectly. Receive is dead. No meter movement, nothing. Have replaced tr-23, d-1, d-2, tr-12, tr-13, and IC-4 by the advice of other sources. Thank you, Perry in Ky.. Radio was used for close range application so I was told.

If the radio has been connected to the PSU or Battery the wrong way, there is a good possible that FET 1 and 2 are O/S.

Try lifting to Collector of TR13 and TR11 and see if the audio comes back, also check the voltages around TR8, 9 and 10, there radios do have some bad Electrolytic capacitors. Let us know how you get on.

Rick.

Perry I know I maybe alittle late here since you have sold the radio, but I have had a problem with the recieve on a new 29 ltd also. It turned to be R-31 is suppose to be 47k 1/6W and it was opened to 137k had very little recieve. I changed it to a 47k 1/2W and it worked fine, I think the 1/6 watt is too small.
