Nato 2000
Hi - nato 2000 has any 1 come across this problem being the program lines all mixed up i.e.-example channel (1)27601-(40)27805 should be= (27601-2799125) the rog board with CIRCUIT to apposing pins r ok to say each band is starting with the normal band i.e. fm-27601 A,26065 B,26515 C,26965 D,27415. But all OFF spec, by at least 5 channels backwards with 27.78.125MHZ missing. All wires coming from the Beep board r ok. the vco is ok and tuned to the correct voltage pll02a is ok and all wires to the channel selector r ok, all diodes to the selector the same and the linking IC,602=ok.kc shift ok if you place ic 602 to ic 601 all channels r ok only on uk's1-40, if you unsolder the red wire from the common of the channel selector-the wire that comes from the band switch and place with the other wires on the side of the band switch 1- 40 uk. All modes r ok any ideas!!! 2 radios r doing this 1 was blown up pwr wise sorted the rx/tx etc but same fault as above.
Re: Nato 2000 Incorrect channels.
This is normally caused by IC601 or IC602. If you check the N-Code you will see it is incorrect, The N-Code are 255 to 216. The easy way to over come this problem is to EPROM the radio as you will not be able to get the replacement Proms. Hope this helps.
Rick.

I know a little about this model radio, not a great deal though.
I once read (I do not know how correct this is) that the two small IC's are actually jumpers, and when the radio is first sold it will only run on certain freqs, and that part of the mod to unlock it is to turn the IC's around, or swap them around, something like that, can anyone else shed more light on this ?
Also, were the radios operating normally, and then fail, if they were OK, then as Rick suggested I would be checking the N codes going to the PLL to confirm the IC outputs are correct, but if they have always been this way, it is possible that something is not right elseware.
I have a service manual for the Nata 2000, but it is a poor photo copy, and the two IC's are not really mentioned.

Cheers for the input ta for your time its not the special proms all they r as you say linking pins(shorts to enable the am-ssb etc. or put around the other way to by pass ic 602's linking wires to give 1-40 UKS ONLY
coverage .cheers rick i will check the n-codes i know from past nato's you cant substitute a tristar 777 channel selector for a nato2000 channel selector-no uks.. the front internal, brass wheel with the template is diff. there is def a program line prob in both the nato's ta again rick. i have a work shop manual it used to have agreen cover had a picture of a tristar on it {bit tatty now.cheers any way.more brain raCKING..

Cheers,scott, rick,Checked the N CODES for 1- 40 A,B,C,D. sure enough 255-=channel1 216channel 40 on the other hand FM (UK?s) is 1=255 but channel 35 is 216 & channel 40 is 211 39is210 38is209 37is208 36is207. I have a theory to this radios problem. The mode switch. Find out in due coarse.
nato n codes
wasnt the mode switch -channel selector. a tang or two.
