Galaxy DX 949 taking out the Side Band

Post by cbtalkerdx »

I new to this and I want to take out the sideband on my Galaxy DX 949, since I never use it, and by taking it out I should get more power since the side band isn't taking some of it. Is this possible?

I'm trying to get the watts used on the sideband to run to the AM also, so my AM gets more power. To get more stations and better quality. Also I want to be able to talk to people farther away.

Well I've never heard this one before....

Doing what you ask will not get you more power in AM mode or any further range when talking or receiving. If you've read or been told this you should disregard. Just enjoy your radio as it was built and when you're on AM the SSB portion is automatically shut down so you need not worry.

Removing sideband won't gain any AM power. Sideband doesn't rob power. That would be like taking the turn signals off your car so you can turn faster?!?!?!?!? (heh heh)
