going to get a new cb tomorrow! some mods & opinions wan

Post by greasemonkey85 »

well tomorrow i am going to get a new cb, i am really liking the connex 3300hp but the guy at the cb shop says it will do 40 watts. is there any modifications for this radio? i can believe it won t do more, but can get a 3300hp for $250. is there another radio comparable, more watts, more toys for $250 to $300 range max? i am going to get something tomorrow, i might spend the extra and get a 4300hp. hwat are your guys opinions on the strykers and magnums? and what are some mods to do to them? i love working on my 29 but i think i got it maxed out at about 30 watts. i guess the ony way to get power is with a amp too huh?

Buy your self a linear instead. cobra 29 and a 300-350 watt linear will walk all over a connex.

Well, besides the power, it would be better, unless your trying to get into ssb and what not.

2950 would be better then a connex.

From what i have seen of the strykers they dont have very many toys on them and they are a rebranded magnum anyway. I standard peak and tune with R178 changed to a 1k resistor will get you 50 watts clean out of a 3300hp. and that mod will not void your warranty. This mod came right from galaxy's tech. You will get 10 watts deadkey and swing to 50 watts PEP that is about 25 to 27watts average power. Not bad for a mosfet radio. the mod is the same for the connex 3300hp. If you want to do sideband like someone said you will have to go a different way. I am a fan of the cobra 25 and 29 but the receiver on the galaxy and connex is better. The nice thing about the galaxy and connex 3300hp is you have a low med. and high power switch so you could still run an amp if you wanted to. Well theres my 1/2 cents worth.

i would go magnum over the connex, with the stryker coming in a close second...

i am assuming you are not a ssber, if you are looking into connex radios, am i correct?

if you want power go with a radio and external amp combo, a lot more efficient.

the RCI 2950 was mentioned above, awesome ssber for the money.
