Mic pop

I have an old Pearce Simpson Cheetah SSB 23 ch. mobile with a D104 mic. I just wired up the mic but I get a pop in the speaker every time I key up. I use to remember a fix for this by putting a diode somewhere on the TX/RX relay but I forgot. Does anyone know of this fix or a similar one so I can get rid of this problem. Thanks. Bill. :?:

Solder a 1N4003 or 1N4004 diode across the relay coil K1. One side of the relay coil connected to pin 3 of the Mic socket and other side is connected to the supply voltage (13 to 13.8 vdc), solder the Anode of the diode to the Mic side and solder the Cathode to the supply side of the coil.
