Galaxy DX66v Doesn't like remote speaker

Post by warlock820 »

Radio seems to work fine until I plug in a remote speaker, Then it howls to no end! Have tried 3 different speakers and it does the same with each. Using a ASTATIC 636 mike.

I did some more searching and think I found out what's wrong. Radio has been peaked. According to dxzone, this will cause my radio to squeal thru a hardwired talkback circuit. would you agree that to solve the problem I need to cut a jumper wire on the board??

Thanks for getting back to me on this! :D

hello again, well if it was me i would cut j-15 jumper, and install me a spst toggle switch in rear of radio.so i could have switchable talkback,.also do the mod shown on dxzone.com.add a 470k resistor from the junction of c154/r207 to the junction of c187/r235.this is a good mod,ive tryed this one.it is good for a peaked radio it will stabilize your talkback and make it sound cleaner.go to www.dxzone.com/cgi-bin/dir/jump2.cgi?id=2482 and this will show you where to put the resistor on the solder side of the pc board......good luck with your radio.......ramblingman
