Old Palomar TX100 Bi-Linear

Post by RedEye »

I had one dropped off to look at yesterday, an old Palomar TX100. It had one blown trans, but I cant find the replacement transitors (TX5300). I threw an old 1446 in it just to key up and see if everything else worked, seems ok and keyed 60~70 watts.
My question is, can I just drop in 2 1446 pills? I can't get TX5300.....I don't want to leave mis-matched pills in it either....

I attached a pic of the board and coils if anyone knows if 2 SD1446 pills would be ok in this one.

The TX5300 was last made by CTC Zetex some 10 or 15 years ago. I have alway replaced them with a pair of MRF450, I do not know if the 1446 would last very long as they have a much hire hfe.

I do not know if they would last due to hi hfe. If that all you have, it maybe a case of suck them and see.
I do not repair pill any more due to this problem.
