pretty easy. Haven't worked on a radio in alot of years

just my opinion, your better off and waiting till you can find a good older style Cobra 148GTL. From what I hear the newer ones aren`t all that good.

Thanks for your help. At least i can change out the xtal to
get more frequencys until I figure out the binary code to
to reprogram the PLL if it can be done. I had an old Grant
with the 8719 and 11 mhz xtal and the schematic for the old 148
looked liked the same chassis didn't know if the new one ...

Does anyone know if the New Cobra 148GTL has the MB8719 PLL Chip
and the 11.3258 xtal. I'm looking to pick one up and don't want to get
stuck with a radio that uses a rom.
