the dx 98 vhp has the same board. if you look at the schematic for the dx-98vhp the main board is dual mosfet and should get you well on you way. Make sure the 3rd leg of the bias pot is soldered to ground on the driver circuit. If you dont do that you wont be able to set your bias on the driver to...

Re: GALAXY DX-44 NO RX, AND NO PA AUDIO???? HELP!!
I have a galaxy dx-44 on the bench here. When i got it it had to tx or rx and i found that tr43 and tr44 were both shorted. I replaced them and tr36 wich was shorted out. I have tx back now and working perfectly. Now on the rx side i found that someone put a 1n4148 in place of a 7.5volt zener at d7...

Well with that and the 2sb827 and all the other stuff being done it works better than the new DX-33hp. I got 29 watts average on the meter on my R2200B comunications an...

I can now key 10 and swing to 21 wats avg. I am getting 40 PEP on my bird now. Almost there!! I was looking at the 2sb827 and it has a highe...

New Update: Radio operates, however, there is an issue that when I tune certain channels, it sounds like a guitar string strumming. When I switch to SSB, it sounds like a guitar or rubberband. Both of these noises only last for a second or less. If I touch the vco area I can also make the noise. I ...

I think that we need to go back to a systematic approach... Set the radio to CH1 on normal CB band, check the voltage at PLL pin 7 and note it down. Lift one end of R116 to disconnect the PLL PD output from the VCO. Use a variable power supply (I recommend using a pot across the PLL DC supply at pi...

You will need to replace the 2SC2166 with an IRF520 for higher peak power to the finals. You have plenty of carrier but need higher peak power from the driver to drive the finals. C171 and C209 need to be silver mica or mylar caps. Try finding the exact values and don't double up those caps. I think...

The easiest way to troubleshoot the PLL/VCO/Mixer circuit is to break the loop and inject your own voltage. Unsolder IC5 pin 7. Inject 3.0 volts at TP2. Connect freq. counter to TP3. Adjust L17 for 16.270mhz on the freq. counter. If that's bad look at TR25 and TR26. Should have 16.270mhz on TR25 (em...

Disconnect the radio from DC power and remove the bottom cover. Once you have the bottom cover separated, remove the amp cover. Using an ohm-meter, test the mosfet leads for shorts. Most likely you'll fine one bank of 4 blown and other 4 good. Unsolder the feedback pcb from on top of the bad bank of...

Since no amp is 100% efficient you have to add that to the formula when deciding what power supply to use. At 13.8 volts the TS DX500V is rated at approx. 500 watts. Like frogman said you need some headroom so 50% is a safe number and that's part of the formula as well. To determine the proper regul...

Spreading air wound coils on the output of the transmitter will appear to increase power but you're doing more harm than good. L28, L29 and L30 form a 54mhz series tuned trap to reduce harmonics. Stretching or reshaping these coils increases harmonic power giving you a false sense of increased power...
