Turns out it was just the Hall effect. Transfered my negative lead from board ground to chassis ground, and my readings were constant. Thanks for your interest.

How do you test an AC capacitor?
I have in front of me a HyGain XL-1 rotor control box. I think that maybe the starter capacitor is bad, but I'm not sure how to check it with my ohm meter to see if it is indeed bad. Help please.

ok, It wasn't as bad of a problem as i had originally thought. Adjusted the ALC pot, and sprayed some cleaner on it. It's fixed now.

Squeal on TX, only when watts are low.
I have a Cobra 142 GTL that will squeal when you turn the key watts down below 2 watts. This only happens on TX. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks.

Re: Cobra 139XLR Rx on freq, Tx 10kc off???
Ok... I changed the 7.8025 crystal to a 7.7975 and now it's transmitting on the correct frquency. But, it still wants to drift, but only about 2kc's above normal, and that only occurs after talking for about a half an hour. Any ideas????

Cobra 139XLR Rx on freq, Tx 10kc off???
Not sure what's going on with this radio, but It receives great, but when I go to transmit it transmits one channel away. or 10kc away. Any help would be appreciated. Also I think a proper AM transmit alignment is in order, but I do not have the info that I need.

Same thing I originally thought. but it does not make any sound when connected to the transmit. I was thinking somewhere along the switching transistors, just not sure where that is in this old radio.
