Mod 4 Icom 730
I have recently acquired an IC730 and wish to put 27MHz in it. It is not a general coverage receive radio and doesnt go there on receive so I will need to do a little more than cut the wire on the rf board. The problem is i dont know exactly what is required. If you know how or can find out how for ...

Mod for 730
G'day mate. I'm having trouble finding out how to put 11metres in my IC730. Ive tryed putting questions on these forums and got no where. People suggested cutting a wire on the RF board but all this does is open up the transmit capability on frequencies that it already receives and this one doesnt r...

If you want an easy solution you could just cut a surplus, unloaded, all stainless steel whip to length for the frequency of interest. About 73 centemetres should be good for around 100mhz. screw this to a standard cb antenna base grounded to a tin roof or gutter. if your house has an all tin roof t...

AV-174 sigma IV
I was surfing about on the net and came across this interesting albeit mean looking vertical but cant find out much about it. I know a fair bit about antennas but this one has me a bit stumped. From what i can tell it probably uses the cone shaped arangement to act as a form of counterpoise while ca...

You could use an amplifier for your cb. 200 watts would probably be enuff. also make sure that the ant. is tuned first before u start tx with amp. If they are really close, a beam on a uhf cb pointed at the offending stereo could be better. If they listen 2 the radio really loud, a small fm transmit...

rubbaband man says 2879 that would be 2sc2879. Your reference to 455 would be MRF455. Both of these pills are virtually identical and in practice would deliver very close to the same power in the same circuit. If you are after replacements stick with the '455. These transistors could be expensive so...

The amp could be oscillating at Audio or a lower RF frequency. that could be an easy death 4 rf pills as the power of the oscillations could be easily higher than the ratings of the pills and that combined with bad matching of the circuit impedances and or antenna impedance / reactance at the freque...

IC730 Mod.
I have recently aquired an icom ic730 and am finding it very difficult to obtain information on how to get it to cover 11m. It is, as you may or not be aware, not a general coverage receive rig and the mod is not as simple as cutting a wire to "open up" the transmit capability and as I do ...
