You may want to check all of the chassis ground connections around the outside edge of the main circuit board for poor or cracked solder joints. The early 2950's were notorious for bad grounds. My 2950 had a similar problem and I found one of the ground connections had gone bad.

What can I say..... I like to play around with radios !

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into this area and see what I can find. I do know that diode # D105 is blown out. I believe this diode is for reversed polarity protection.

If the polarity got reversed and some point in time and blew out this diode, what other components might be affected?
