Galaxy 95T2 help
Galaxy 95T2 help
Ok, I bought me a much bigger radio than before. I got a Galaxy 95T2 and seem to be having a little trouble. The guy I bought it from says it deadkeys on low at 10 watts and swings to 250 and on high dk at 100 watts and swings to 250. Does the swing wattage change at more power is put out on the deadkey? Well that's not the main question, just a side question. The main problem is that I recieved it in a poorly packaged box. Just USPS Prority box with a very small amount of styrofoam holding the sides, nothing kept the radio from sliding side to side. I found that the knobs that you can push in that will turn the TB off and on do not push in and out like a normal push button would do. How do these knobs work? Can you feel the knob push in and out? How much do they push in? Yes, I am pushing on the inside knob not the other. Got another question, found out when I turned it on that the frequency counter does not want to come on. Is there a button or some how to turn it off and on? I would like to see the frequency that I am talking on first before I start talking because this thing has so many bands. I also found that the power cord was really short, maybe 4 inches. He claims that I do not know how to work it and that that is how the power cord came when he bought it from Coppers electronics. I don't think that is true because most give you at least 2 to 3 feet of cord. Can someone help me on figuring out this radio???? He said that Coppers did a 11 meter conversion on it too, that is why I would like to find out the frequency I am talking on. Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Galaxy 95T2 help
The DX95T2 is normally quit a nice radio, not my cup of tea.
I have setup lots of them and only ever found a few faults from new.
The push button switches, which are on the controls, Mic Gain, Dimmer, and Coarse and Fine shift, normally have a positive switching feel to them.
The power cable (cord) is about 3 feet long and has two blade type fuse holders.
The power output is AM/FM: 2W~50W and SSB 150W PEP.
The box, which the radio comes pack it, is very good, I have radios shipped from the USA to the UK and I have not had one damaged to date.
There is more info on CBTricks www.cbtricks.com/radios/galaxy/dx95t_2/index.htm

It sound like a eBay job.

Rick,
Yes it is an ebay job. Can you tell me how to get the frequency counter to work? Is there a switch to turn it off and on? This is the main thing that I need to fixed before I start talking on it. I could probably live with the knobs the way they are but it would be nice to get them working. I have yet to open it up and see what is inside. Many thanks!!!!

Re: Galaxy 95T2 help.
To get the counter working you will need to do some voltage reading, you can get this info from the link I gave you in my last post.
I have had the frequency counter control board (EPT091V30A) fall in the past and a replacement is not cheap.

Rick,
I was looking at the manual online and saw that there is a push button knob that turns the frequency counter off and on. Is there a way to get the knobs back to working; push in and out without causing damage? WD-40? Screwdriver? I think that the knobs are just pushed in because it was poorly packaged.

What happens is the buttons do indeed get pushed in, all you have to do is grab the larger outer knob and pull out about 1/8 of an inch, then push the outer back in again and when you operate the switches, you will feel a noticible click. It's just that there is no room for the switch to move currently.
When you do this, just remember to only push the outer part of the knob back in, its the inner part that functions as the switch.
Wedging a tiny piece of plastic or wood in the hole on the small knobs will prevent them from being pushed in too far in the future.
I almost forgot, after you do the above, the dim switch will turn the frequency counter on and off.
