I have acquired a Formac 120 radio and have found absolutey no info on this unit. It has a factory installed roger bleep in it and no provision to turn it off. i have tinkered around a bit with it trying to disable the bleep but I either also turn off receive audio or transmit audio with that. Any one have any info to share? It really is a fairly nice no frills radio, with both am/fm and 3 bands of 40 each channels. When I first wired a mic for it and got it to key and modulate it was sitting at about 15 watts dk, and backward mod to about 7. I detuned it to key 5 and it swings about 15 now, several contacts say it is as clear as a bell and loud as he77. Receive is pretty sharp, very little external noise coming in. I actually like the little radio but hate the beep.

If the bleep unit is self contained on its own PCB, it should make it easier to disable, there are a couple of options..

1) remove the timing capacitor so that there is no dekey delay, so the bleep cannot be heard.

2) remove the oscillator transistor so that it does not produce a tone.

I do not have any information either, so I cannot be more specific on what to do.

I didn't have a lot to lose so,,,, I started touching wires on the 3 pcb mounted inside the unit. I found one post with 2 wires that hummed real nice so I disconnected it. No roger bleep and same audio as before. Kewl! Put the removed wired on theunused side of the noise blanker switch and now it's swirchable. Thanks guys for trying to help, I do appreciate it.
