Using inexpensive 26LW6or 36LW6 Sweepstoreplace6LF68950M2057

Post by giboni »

:P Hi,
Though Im a Super Golden Screwdriver and have rewired numerous sweep boxes, repaired many retubed a bunch with various tubes never had sucess with 26LW6/36LW6.Have over 150 26LW6 and 200 36LW6.

Acording to old Ge/RCA technical sheets 6LW6 is the octal equivelant to 6LF6.
Experimented 12 years ago with black cat chassis with one 6LW6 and bigger
power supply was able to get output before the tube got red.Was thinking on getting on audio boards as some of these Folks know the math etc.
Some of the Macos I believe the 500 and 750 were set up with the driver in grounded grid and cathode input drive. However it seemed the finals Screen grids were driven by the driver and cathode was grounded.shame the chassis I have are missing parts.
If you look at the schematic of the 26-36LW6 you see that the cathode is grounded internaly already. So it has to be driven by the screen.Read a technical piece on an audio board about Ultra Linnear operation of Sweep Tubes being driven to excitation through the screen.Though for an audio Amp the writer mentioned it works also for a Linnear.Any comments ETC would be appreciated information.Have over 150 cerramic octal bases to!
This translated jappanese link clearly shows that the LW6 is in the same class as 6LF6 8950 M-2057.Oh LW6 is the same size as M-2057.Have to Maco Pows one with 35LR6 other original strong M-2057 and thirty M2057 spares. Was thinking sell the M-2057s and rewire to 26 or 36.The Pow is grounded Grids cathode driven though. For example the Maco 500 1 driving four.Driver 36KD6 Finals 36LW6.Have several 35V filament transformers various sizes!Anybody got a clue, list of parts links etc?
