Galaxy DX55V TRB-1 Installation Qestion

Post by richw001 »

Hello, I'm new here. I just purchased a TRB-1 echo board for my Galaxy 55, the seller said it came with detailed instructions but they aren't that clear to me. I'm not sure where to make the connections. I'm confident in my soldering abbilities if some one could just point me in the right direction. Here is what I'm looking for: Audio line from radio mic jack, Positive (+) 13.8 volt DC source switched at the On/Off, the PTT Pin on the radio mic jack, and the directions say to keep the board as far from the transmitter final stage as possible and I don't know where that is. I think thats all I need but if someone has helpful info feel free to pass it along. Oh yea, I can attach close up pics if that would help.
Thanks in advance.

Hey there,

The audio wire to your mic jack will be (most generally) a black wire coming off the little board that your mic jack is soldered onto (see diagram attached).

The PTT (or TX) wire is the red wire shown in the diagram.

The switched +13.8V can be found on the volume/squelch knob, the switch is what you want to tie off of, it will have 2 pins coming out of it, with 2 wires (Black/red) coming off one pin, and 1 wire (brown) coming off the other. check either pin for a switched +13.8V there.

The RF section of the radio will be located in the back left of the chassis (with the knobs/front of radio facing you, components side up). Best place to mount the board will be near the mic jack.

Great site that can help you find what you're after.
